The output beam of most commercial lasers typically exhibits a Gaussian intensity distribution when operating in the fundamental mode. However, many research and industrial applications require laser beams with different phase and intensity distributions. A Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) is an optical device used to shape and control the phase and intensity distribution of a light beam.
Fath Noor Mihan (Phylabs) manufactures and supplies transmissive Spatial Light Modulators for visible wavelengths. The device consists of an addressing unit and a transmissive optical modulator (electro-optic component). Based on the information loaded into the addressing unit, the phase distribution of the optical modulator is dynamically modified, enabling precise control of the phase and amplitude distributions of the transmitted beam.
